Ceramic Tile Institute of America releases report on floor crack isolation membranes

September 23, 2005

The Ceramic Tile Institute of America (CTIOA) announced that its CTIOA Technical Committee has completed a report containing information on types of crack isolation membranes and their intended use. The report, CTIOA Field Report 2005-4-15-Ceramic Tile Installation on Floor Crack Isolation Membranes, notes that crack membrane protection is limited to minor horizontal planar movement of the substrate (shrinkage cracks) and will not provide protection against vertical movement (structural cracks). To print a copy of the report, visit the CTIOA Web site: www.CTIOA.org, and select the report from the Reports Menu.
