traveling to various destinations around the world, it is always interesting to
observe the different styles of architecture. Each country possesses its own
history and culture — usually dating back centuries — which is often prevalent
in the designs of its city buildings, historic institutions and residential
properties. And when it comes to building materials, tile is typically found in
abundance — adorning archways, cladding walls and covering floors.

UNICERA Trade Fair celebrates 20th year with record-breaking attendance The 20th UNICERA Ceramic and Bathroom Trade Fair, held in Istanbul, Turkey, recently, hosted more than 60,000 attendees, a record for this event, say organizers. Compared to the first show held in April 1988 with 100 square meters of space and 8,500 attendees, the 2008 exhibition had grown to encompass more than 40,000 square meters with from more than 170 exhibitors.
LATICRETE open doors to new manufacturing plant in China LATICRETE International, Inc. celebrated the grand opening of its manufacturing plant in China recently at Songjiang, Shanghai. LATICRETE (Shanghai) Building Material Co. Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of U.S.-based LATICRETE International. The opening of the China facility represented another milestone in the firm’s 50-plus years of business, the company said.
The new plant is the first fully owned LATICRETE plant outside of the U.S. and has been designed and tailored to meet the stringent quality requirements of LATICRETE plants worldwide. Its production line manufactures dry mortars, latex and epoxy products which include tile and stone adhesives, grouts, latex additives, waterproofing, floor underlayments and EIFS systems serving Greater China, the company noted.
D&B garners Cornerstone Award The
National Tile Contractors Association (NTCA) recently presented its annual Joe
A. Tarver Cornerstone Award for Service to the Industry to the Yarborough family
of Sawgrass, Fla.-based D&B Tile Distributors. The ceremony took place
during Coverings 2008 in Orlando, FL.

products feature biodegradable formulas. The StoneSpecific line of

upgraded low VOC formulas.
