Living in California, particularly Southern California, one is always aware of the imminent danger of quakes, fires, floods and mudslides. If you haven’t turned on the news, read a newspaper or surfed the Internet in a while, then you probably won’t know what I'm talking about. Cersaie, the International Exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings, is well underway (Sept. 30 to Oct. 4) at the Bologna Exhibition Centre, and has thus far met the expectations of thousands of visitors and its more than 1,000 exhibitors.

September 11 was a somber day for me. From the moment I turned on my car radio in the morning until I went to sleep, words and images kept flooding my mind.
